The Kinfolk Team








PRINT Kinfolk is a quarterly print magazine that collects ideas from a growing international community of artists, writers, designers, photographers, cooks and others who are interested in creating small gatherings and finding new things to make and do.

Printed in Canada on uncoated paper, each issue is filled with lush photography, lyrical essays, recipes, interviews, profiles, personal stories and practical tips along with a keen attention to design and details. Founded in 2011 by Nathan Williams, Katie Searle-Williams, Doug Bischoff and Paige Bischoff, Kinfolk has published 13 issues and many are being translated and published in Japan, China, Korea and Russia. Designed to fill a void on the newsstand, Kinfolk appeals to a young, photography-intensive audience full of artists and food enthusiasts.  Whether you’re looking for a new cooking skill, road trip route or camping guide, Kinfolk is a blueprint for a balanced, intentional lifestyle. Subscribe

EVENTS Since early 2012, Kinfolk has curated an international series of events. In 2013, the Kinfolk team hosted between 12–30 dinners and workshops every month with a shared theme across multiple cities around the world (examples include the Flower Potlucks, Campfire Cooking and Butcher Block Parties). In 2014, we are limiting the frequency of events so that our our entire community can put more energy into depth, not breadth. We will have a spring/summer celebration and a fall/winter gathering. Attend events

The Kinfolk team is a small group of writers, artists and business minds working together in Portland, Oregon, along with a couple remote team members. The extended Kinfolk community consists of far-flung, like-minded, food-loving friends, photographers, designers, cooks and other creative types, whose contributions help define the magazine. Kinfolk provides a space where we can come together and share ideas about small gatherings, casual entertaining and great things to cook, make and do.
