For Chris Glass, the responsibilities of hospitality are best captured by a German word: aufgabe. Roughly translating as “a task,” it reflects the dedication that has seen Atlanta-born Glass establish a reputation in Berlin as a consummate master of ceremonies. “The energy—the intention of wanting to connect people—is a line that runs through everything that we do,” he says of his latest venture, APTM, a loft apartment complete with corner kitchen and bedroom that serves as an intimate space in which to host functions, food and drink tastings and Glass’ annual Thanksgiving meal.
