What’s the correct way to read a magazine?
When people are browsing in our London shop they will pick up a magazine and flick from the back, then flick from the front, then stop at something in the middle. The magazines I really enjoy I will sit down with and try to avoid skimming. I’ve made a lot of magazines and I know the amount of care that goes into the running order.

Do you try to discourage visitors who browse but never buy?
We’re not like an old-fashioned newsagent who has a sticker on every shelf saying “No browsing.” Obviously, if someone browses for hours and doesn’t buy anything it’s disappointing, but for every person who does that, another person will spend a few hours browsing and then buy 20 magazines.
