Inside the London offices of the influential industrial designers.

Seen from the neat, ordered meeting room of Industrial Facility’s office, London’s rooftops are a patchwork of eras and styles. “There are just so many layers of human habitation,” says Sam Hecht, the studio’s co-founder, surveying the Clerkenwell skyline. “We find that quite inspirational.” It’s a surprising statement, coming from a studio known for its clean, exacting approach to design, but one that reveals what is perhaps the essential motivation for the practice: “We’re in a constant search for simplicity, for the good things in life—perhaps because we struggle to maintain them.”
