The Hoxton, PortlandA storied hotel in the heart of Portland’s Old Town.

Located just beyond Chinatown Gateway, The Hoxton in Portland has lived many lives: first, as the Hotel Philip, when it was built in 1906, then as a theatre during the 1920s, and later as a single-room occupancy hotel known as The Grove Hotel. Today, renovated and reimagined by London studio Fettle, the building is indicative of an ongoing effort to revitalize the gritty Old Town neighborhood. The lobby is all raw concrete and reclaimed wooden floors, punctuated by mohair and leather furniture and set around a large central fireplace. Adjacent to the public spaces is a new, nine-story tower housing the guest rooms, with interiors inspired by the Northwest Regional modernism of the 1960s.
