The Mercer A stylish bolthole in the heart of SoHo.
The Mercer A stylish bolthole in the heart of SoHo.
The Mercer has been an influential cornerstone of SoHo since it first opened on Mercer and Prince Streets in 1997. Housed inside a landmark 1890 Romanesque Revival building, the 73-room hotel marries casual, elegant luxury with quintessential Downtown loft living (before the conversion, the building served as artists’ studios). From the exposed bricks and leather sofas of the lobby to the serene minimalism of the guest rooms, the interiors are exquisite and sensually simple—a signature of the late Parisian designer Christian Liaigre. In the same spirit, The Mercer operates with other back-to-basic, thoughtful touches: real room keys, minimal technology, handwritten notes, fresh fruit and flowers, and a rooftop apiary. The legendary Mercer Kitchen was taken over last year by Sartiano’s, which serves Italian American classics from an open kitchen.
