TWA HotelChecking in for a nostalgia trip.

TWA Hotel, inside Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center at JFK Airport, is no ordinary airport hotel. Blending mid-century modern design with contemporary amenities, its 512 soundproofed guestrooms offer views of active runways—as does its rooftop pool—immersing guests in the airport’s nonstop rhythm. Here, basic rooms and functional efficiency give way to soaring architecture, bold colors and vintage stylings: There’s a Twister room, a 1950s-style hair salon complete with wigs, and a cocktail bar inside a converted plane. It’s the opposite of quiet luxury—let’s call it loud kitsch—and while style wins over substance in some senses, the experience is unforgettable.
