Villa AnémoneA coastal hideaway in southern France.

Villa AnémoneA coastal hideaway in southern France.

Between Hyères and Toulon, on a hillside dotted with olive groves, pine trees and modernist villas, Villa Anémone offers a hideaway par excellence. The area was once known for its flower fields overlooking the sea—hence the name. Today, the villa’s minimalist, retro-inflected design gestures toward Los Angeles, making it easy to imagine as a place to write a screenplay—or simply to lounge by the pool. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and controlled, from the stainless-steel kitchen to the clean-lined living room. In the bathroom, navy and evergreen tiles mirror the view from the lounge’s distinctive corner window: a deep blue haze of sea in the dip between two wooded hills.
