Heckfield PlaceAn English country house revival.
Set in over 400 acres of woodland and farmland in Hampshire, Heckfield Place invites guests to experience an English country house reimagined for a contemporary age. The Georgian manor, built in the 1760s, has been carefully restored under the direction of owner Gerald Chan, with interiors that mix contemporary art, period detail and natural palettes, resulting in rooms that are generous and understated, with marble bathrooms, beautifully sourced furniture, views onto gardens or forest, and thoughtful touches such as jars of homemade pickles, cordials and jams.
The estate is central to the experience. A biodynamic farm supplies much of the kitchen, now led by Culinary Director Eleanor Henson and shaped by the enduring influence of the late Skye Gyngell, with menus guided by what’s ready to harvest. At Marle, the hotel’s Green Michelin-starred restaurant, dishes are ingredient-led and precise; at Hearth, cooking unfolds over an open fire. Guests are encouraged to explore—through ancient woodland, past lakes and follies, or simply from a window seat overlooking the grounds—before retreating to the spa for a swim or treatment, or back to a working country house rooted in English heritage.
