Seating Arrangements

A balance of opposites, in partnership with Expormim.

Practitioners of the ancient Japanese art of ikebana train for years to learn how to create deliberate flower arrangements that find a harmony between natural materials and the spaces they are designed to beautify. It’s this philosophy—balancing the natural world with refined, elegant interiors—that we have channeled into a photo series produced in partnership with Spanish furniture brand Expormim. Just as skillful ikebana arrangements demonstrate how a balance of opposites can be brought together for poetic effect, the clean lines and organic curves of Expormim’s new Cadenza armchair harmonize to create a calm, comfortable place to sit. Designed by David López Quincoces, the armchair is part of a wider Cadenza collection that includes a loveseat and sofas, all of which take advantage of Expormim’s expertise in using rattan to create gentle curves and subtle rhythms.
