Paola Turello was watching television as a child at her home in Moncalieri, a town a few miles south of Turin, when a commercial caught her attention. It showed a majestic white horse galloping along the shore of a lake, across a lush stretch of countryside and down a long sandy beach. “I was instantly struck by its freedom and independence,” she says. “It’s a feeling I have carried with me ever since.”
