In Denmark, as in all Scandinavian countries, the summer solstice is a cause for celebration. No wonder: in Skagen, the country’s most northerly city, the shortest day offers only six and a half hours of sunlight. Even in Copenhagen, where the Kinfolk offices are based, it will be dark by 4.30pm in December.
Unlike in countries on the equator, where you could almost set your watch by the position of the sun in the sky, having a reliable time piece is important in a city where the shape of the day shifts so dramatically.
G-SHOCK’s GMAS2100 series is made to be both strong and light: a shock and water resistant time piece designed for hiking in North Zealand, or lounging with friends on Copenhagen’s harbor. To celebrate the reinvention of this contemporary timepiece, we spent an afternoon in some secret sun traps around the city.
