The Twenty TwoNew York’s secluded private members’ club hotel.
The Twenty Two is a hotel that doubles as a private members’ club, and is defined throughout by intimacy and discretion. Only a few steps from bustling Union Square, the 78 rooms, designed by London-based Child Studio, offer an opulent escape from the thronging city. The moody interiors begin in the lobby—velvet drapery, Tiffany lamps and tasseled keys arranged behind a pigeonholed check-in desk—and carry through to the rooms and suites, where soft mohair blankets, Calacatta marble bathrooms and rotary phones on bedside tables create a cinematic atmosphere. Downstairs is the Levantine restaurant, Cafe Zaffri, with its stained glass ceiling and well-heeled crowd who linger late into the night over cocktails in the hotel’s French-Italian bar.
