Adult life can impose strictures on even the most creative people. Known for delicate ceramics and Judd-esque seating, the duo behind YELLOW NOSE STUDIO is finding their work is taking a more “organic” shape since their daughter showed up—and started helping out.

Yellow Nose Studio takes quite literally a hands-on approach to design. “We’ve always loved to do everything ourselves—to consciously touch, feel and experiment with the materials we’re working with,” says Kai-Ming Tung, who founded the Berlin-based design studio in 2017 with his partner, Hsin-Ying Ho. Whether they are producing furniture or ceramics, or working on installations, being self-sufficient is an essential part of the studio’s creative process.
