During the first few months of the pandemic—those early, scary, pre-vaccine, schools-are-closed days, when we were all still figuring out how to navigate working from home and (possibly) taking care of kids and not going completely insane—there was one woman, it seemed, who had the capacity to lead us all through the wilderness.
