Nestled in a quiet, cobbled courtyard in central London, the unassuming modern facade of Child Studio’s office gives little away. Venturing inside, however, feels like stepping into a film on pause: the book lying open on a side table, the scent of leather and tobacco lingering in the air, the carefully selected objects.

This sense of layered storytelling will be familiar to those who know Child Studio’s work. Founders Alexy Kos and Che Huang create interiors that feel like movie sets—cinematic, moody and steeped in design history. Their portfolio is as varied as it is atmospheric: The conversion of a 1960s post office into a sushi restaurant that pays homage to mid-century Tokyo; an eyewear store that channels the louche history of London’s Soho; a Belsize Park apartment that references the Bauhaus era. Each project transports you to a distinct time and is layered with cultural references that feel at once familiar and enigmatic.
