Let’s Talk About Love, Céline Dion: I had a habit of listening to albums backwards when I was a child—it was a way for me to kick against the system. Still, backwards or not, I listened to this record until I memorized every inflection and breath. It also happens to be the album that introduced me to the role of a producer.
Kefir: I start off every morning with a shot of kefir. It’s great for gut health but also the internal part of my skin care routine. I used to buy it from the store but my parents started making it so now I just get it from them.
Vicco Turmeric Cream: This is a staple Ayurvedic skin care product you can find in any South Asian store and I use it religiously. I’ve been doing this for the past year and it’s the best my skin has looked since hitting puberty.
Tomato soup: I regularly stop at the grocery store on my way to the studio, and get tomato soup from the deli. I love soup.
The Mummy: This is a film that brought so much magic to me as a child. I wanted to become a librarian like Evie and stumble into an archaeological adventure.
Breakfast: I start with a substantial slice of tomato that I season with basil and oregano and then I add two slices of pepper jack cheese, smoked salmon or fish from yesterday’s lunch, half an avocado seasoned with smoked paprika, an egg sunny-side up seasoned with black pepper, and I top everything off with a generous helping of Chick-fil-A sauce.
Voice Changer with Effects: This is an app I use a lot in my creative process. I upload a song I’m working on and listen to it at various speeds and pitches. It’s a fun way to get ideas or check if anything is jumping out of place in a weird way.
Aroma Café, LA: I love that they have so many gluten-free and vegan options. My usual order is a sloppy joe with no bun (they have their own secret recipe), a side salad, a slice of gluten-free carrot cake and a cup of hot water.
How Geography Made the US Ridiculously OP: It’s one of my favorite videos on the internet. I really enjoy hearing about navigable rivers and the unique and crucial role that barrier islands play in a nation’s economy.
The park: I’ve started going alone, one day a week. I bring music, sometimes a book to read and snacks. I keep my phone where I can’t see it and lay out on a blanket in the sun for a while. It’s really nice.
